Cold heading machine manufacturer: Requirements for molds during cold heading processing

Release time:

2021-05-04

The cold heading machine has very high requirements for the mold. During the cold heading process, the blank is subjected to triaxial compressive stress in the mold, which significantly increases the deformation resistance, causing the stress on the mold to be much greater than that of ordinary stamping molds. When cold-pressed steel is used, the stress on the mold typically reaches 2000MPa to 2500MPa. For example, taking a low-carbon steel cup with a diameter of 38mm, a wall thickness of 5.6mm, and a height of 100mm as an example. When using cold heading, the maximum deformation force is only 17t, while when using cold pressing, the maximum deformation force is 132t. At this time, the unit pressure acting on the cold pressing punch is 230.

Cold heading machineThere are very high requirements for the mold. During the cold heading process, the blank is subjected to triaxial compressive stress in the mold, which significantly increases the deformation resistance, causing the stress on the mold to be much greater than that of ordinary stamping molds. When using cold extruded steel, the stress on the mold typically reaches 2000MPa to 2500MPa. For example, taking a low-carbon steel cup with a diameter of 38mm, a wall thickness of 5.6mm, and a height of 100mm as an example. When using cold heading, the maximum deformation force is only 17t, while using cold extrusion, the maximum deformation force is 132t. At this time, the unit pressure acting on the cold extrusion punch is above 2300MPa. In addition to high strength, the mold also needs to have sufficient impact toughness and wear resistance.

 Cold heading machineAdjustment techniques:

  1. Emergency stop and press the emergency stop button on the control cabinet operation panel, the equipment stops running.

  2. Reset by pressing the two reset switches on the counter operation panel to reset the preset number and processing number respectively.

  3. Unplug the total power, the data on the counter remains unchanged. After restarting the power, the equipment will continue to process parts until the preset quantity is reached, and then stop.
